A-Z CHALLENGE (hosted by a variety of writers) : April's task is to write something, anything using the letters of the alphabet as an inspiration for each post. In honor of one of my favorite authors, I will use Sue Grafton's title set-up: P is for... Q is for... R is for... (and so on.).

4th: Roberto's final tattoo (for the moment, anyway) is another element of Earth. Namely, EARTH. The green image rests quietly behind his right ear, symbolizing the importance of family. He had the artist ink four leaves, representing each family member. Rudy. Me. Elizabeth. And Brad. The leaves also represent his love of nature, his roots of heritage, and his roots to earth.
Roberto was born 21 years ago, today.
He's charming and attractive.
Good-natured and agreeable.
And he has four tattoos.
1st (which is a three-in-one): Two weeks after his 18th birthday he walked out of the house with a drawing in hand, and a smile on his face. He returned with a message to himself, inked onto his wrists; a perfectly placed daily reminder.
PEACE. LOVE. HAPPINESS.
2nd: During his final (senior) months in high school, as part of a class, he was reading the novel 1984; it was then that he first encountered the idea of Big Brother Is Always Watching. He says the story opened his eyes to society, the government, and the media as never before. He claims a bit of his innocence was lost. SO, that following summer, he and his friend Rachel, ventured off to an ink parlor. They returned with the Eye of Horus ("all seeing eye") on their heels; Roberto's - solar masculine energy - on the right, Rachel's - Ra luna femine energy - on the left. Ironically, and unplanned, when the two of them stand back-to-back, heels touching, the Eyes are positioned perfectly together, symmetry at its best. Roberto walks daily with the Eye of Horus; symbolizing protection, safety, health, wisdom, and prosperity.

3rd: Roberto excitedly left the house, not too long ago, with a on the back of his left arm image in mind for his third tattoo. FIRE. One of the four elements of Earth, which also symbolizes his zodiac sign - Aries. Roberto had been picturing a specific image, for months, when he returned to the tattoo-ist; asking him to create flames that looked as authentic as possible because "I have a burning passion for life" he says. The added effect of the Aries emblem within the fire rounds out the look Roberto was hoping for.

Eventually, somewhere on himself, somewhere in time, Roberto will add the other two elements, AIR and WATER. Where and when? It's anyone's guess.
